About Daranisuke Research Lab
The purpose of this laboratory is to explore the charm of Daranisuke, particularly the one with a connection to the Oominesan Dorogawa, through themes of to reflect, to know, to think/imagine, and to experience.

While following the few historical facts related to Daranisuke, the lab takes a unique perspective by showcasing not only the medicinal effects, but also rare antique tools and production machines used in the past, comparing package designs of Daranisuke sold in the Dorogawa area, observing the black balls of Daranisuke which are about 3mm in diameter, visualizing the intake amount calculated from their volume, and magnifying the act of scooping Daranisuke-gan.

The exhibit is composed of materials related to Daranisuke down to the smallest detail, such as using Kihada wood (Amur Cork Tree) for exhibit fixtures and an original paint made by boiling ambur cork tree bark.

Apart from "Daranisuke: A Marvelous Folk Medicine for Digestive Disorders - From Tradition to Science'' (Yakujishinpo-sha, by Takehira Zenitani and Inao Zenitani, 1986), there is virtually no comprehensive material related to Dorogawa-produced Daranisuke-gan, and much of it was lost in two major fires that occurred in the Dorogawa area after World War II. Thus, this exhibit was made possible by the remaining rare materials, documents, and oral tradition passed down by the few Daranisuke stores still scattered throughout the Dorogawa area.
