Water is an essential element for the survival of all forms of life. Water Piece was conceived for the festival as a response to various water-related issues, encompassing topics such as privatization, access, waste, power, and safety, through a series of actions.

While access to clean water may be often taken for granted in Japan, my firsthand experiences have underscored the profound importance of water. Living in environments affected by drought and visiting countries with inadequate access to drinking water have deepened my appreciation for this vital resource. Particularly, during my time in California, where I resided, the state grappled with rapid drought and aridification, further motivating me to explore these themes through artistic expression.

To give form to this piece, I interpreted the Instruction I had written and set a personal rule: to consume water conscientiously, minimize waste, and engage in actions that would help conserve water.
