STORY
The concept for String of Mu originated from a conversation with a friend who had been diagnosed with HIV. Despite available treatment options, the persistent social stigma and discrimination surrounding HIV/AIDS prompted me to take action. Collaboratively performed on World AIDS Day, December 1st, the piece was dedicated to my friend to reduce prejudice and discrimination associated with the disease.
Drawing from traditional Japanese symbolism, I incorporated noodles, often consumed as a prayer for longevity and extended life, and hair, symbolizing vitality. Together with performer Tanogashira, we conducted a 24-hour performance where we continuously tied these materials, symbolizing the interconnectedness of life and the need for empathy and understanding in the face of adversity.

ムの紐は、HIV陽性と診断された友人との会話がきっかけで生まれました。当時、治療方法などが存在するにも関わらず、HIV/AIDSに対する社会的な偏見や差別は根強いものでした。そこで12月1日の世界エイズデーに友人に捧げることを主たる目的としたパフォーマンスを行いました。
素材は、日本では長寿と延命を祈るために伝統的に食される麺と、命を象徴する髪（パフォーマー・田頭の自毛）を使用し、それらを24時間連続で結び続ける作品でした。
