STORY
The Earth Symphony Orchestra was a site-specific piece, conceived for Sense Island Sarushima Dark Museum, a nocturnal event held exclusively on Sarushima, an uninhabited island in Yokosuka City. The festival's theme, 'Rediscovering Human Senses in the Darkness,' inspired me to explore the island's unique sensations through extensive site visits, culminating in the creation of this immersive artwork.
Upon entering the exhibition area, participants encounter the Instruction, receiving a stethoscope and a mat to perform this piece.
地球交響楽団は、横須賀市にある無人島・猿島で、夜間にのみ開催される「Sense Island -感覚の島- 暗闇の美術館」のために制作されたサイト・スペシフィックな参加型作品です。本芸術祭では、「暗闇の中で人間の感覚を取り戻す」というテーマが掲げられており、現地視察を経てこの無人島ならではの感覚について考え、本作品 (インストラクション)を創作しました。
来場者は、東京湾最大の無人島から海が一望できる展示エリアの入口付近で、現代詩文、言葉の楽譜のようなインストラクション作品と出会います。そして、聴診器とマットを受け取り、自分なりの想像力と解釈で作品に演じ・参加し、作品は完成します。
